The Inspiration Behind Omari
Omari was born out of a desire to capture the essence of personalization, embracing each bride’s unique story, style, and culture. Inspired by elements of vintage bridal dresses from the 1950s as well as elements of beauty around us, the gown features delicate beadwork that mimics the branching forms of nature, creating an ethereal and elegant look.
Our founder, Hikmah, explains, “Omari was designed for the bride who seeks both grace and expression. The intricate lace detailing and the corset bodice combined with the soft flowing overskirt, reflects a harmonious blend of softness and power. It’s a gown that commands attention while celebrating the bride’s individuality.”
The Design Process
The journey of Omari began with a vision to craft a gown that radiates elegance while maintaining an avant-garde touch. Our team meticulously sketched various interpretations before settling on the final design—a form-fitting classic trumpet silhouette with exquisite hand done embroidery, combined with layers of luxurious fabrics.
The cleavage and sleeves seamlessly transition into a skin-like illusion with floating embroidery and crystals, beautifully highlighting her radiant dark skin and celebrating the African heritage.
Handpicked Materials: The first step in bringing Omari to life was selecting the perfect materials. We chose luxurious satin and tulle to create the gown’s base, ensuring a balance between structure and fluidity. The beading was a highlight of the design, chosen to evoke the natural beauty of coral reefs and delicate tree branches, adding both texture and depth.
Attention to Detail: Every element of the Omari gown was crafted with precision. The detailed lacework that adorns the neckline and sleeves was hand-sewn, with hours dedicated to positioning each bead to create a seamless, organic flow across the gown. The process took weeks to perfect, as we wanted to ensure that each detail aligned with the overall vision of the gown.
Crafting the Silhouette: The bodice of Omari is carefully structured to provide a flattering fit while allowing for ease of movement. We wanted the gown to complement the bride’s figure without being restrictive, creating a look that is both timeless and contemporary. The over skirt features soft, cascading layers of tulle, adding dimension and movement to the gown, making it ideal for both walking down the aisle and dancing the night away.
Final Fittings and Bringing the Vision to Life
The magic truly happens during the final fittings. Our muse Natie, had the opportunity to see Omari come to life as she tried on the gown for the first time in Manchester, it was surreal! A little final touch up here and there,and we were ready to share with the world.
